Worked for Harper’s, Scribner’s American Magazine, Ladies’ Home Journal and The Saturday Evening Post and Life. A frequent contributor to ad campaigns, notably for Jell-O; his advertisement for Jell-O is memorable to this day. In 2001, a painting he did for that company auctioned for $9,350. Prolific illustrator of American life, often with a humorous, home-spun themes. Post. Migrated east to become part of the Westport, Connecticut art colony, did only a few covers for the Post, but they were memorable, especially his poignant depictions of children.
