Born in San Francisco, CA in 1887. Roth studied art at Polytechnic High School with Maria Van Vleck and Rose Murdock. Upon graduation, he went to work for the San Francisco Bulletin. After a trip to Europe in 1910, he settled in NYC where he was a cartoonist for the New York World and later the New York Herald Tribune. He died in New York on Oct. 27, 1953.
