was an American illustrator, artist, and writer who created the popular comic characters the Kewpies. She at one point became the highest-paid female illustrator in the world . O’Neill illustrated “The Baby Party” for the February 1925 Hearst’s International. O’Neill’s depiction of the character John Andros bears a strong resemblance to Fitzgerald. “The Baby Party” was written while Fitzgerald was in his now infamous period of financial hardship- he was completing the final proof stage for The Great Gatsby and needed to support himself financially.
